Less than a day after his contract was formally revealed, Marc Cucurella made his Chelsea debut.
Throughout the closing 20 minutes of the contest against Everton, the Spaniard played superbly.
Pat Nevin, a Chelsea great, outlined some of Cucurella’s qualities after closely monitoring him while he was at Brighton.
The entrance of Marc Cucurella was such a relief, as Nevin noted in his piece for the Chelsea website. Anyone who observed the Spaniard during the previous season will confirm that, in addition to his talent and determination to advance and create on the left side, his energy levels are among the finest.
“I believe he will be adored by Chelsea supporters as a player because of his never-give-up and never-say-die attitude.
Although it is still early and a lot of money has been spent, there have been some media mutterings about Chelsea’s recent purchases. However, based on the results of the first game, the decisions made thus far don’t appear to be poor at all.
“If he is as remarkable as the others appear, and he has the same energy and passion, the squad will have a lot more balanced look about it,” says the coach, “I feel there could be at least one more big addition to be made at the back.”
