‘I shouldn’t be here if I wanted the easy life, Chelsea man declares
Graham Potter, the manager of Chelsea, has acknowledged that if he had wanted an easier life, he would have stayed at Brighton and turned down the Chelsea position.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!“I could have quite simply stayed at Brighton in the Premier League, signed a new deal, and been totally okay,” Potter said. “If I wanted a pleasant, easy life.
And I wouldn’t have been too concerned about pressure, getting fired, or anything else like that.
Football is emotion, says Potter. The coaching process improves with time because you go through the ups and downs and then you learn more about this person, who can come with us, who maybe we’re not on the right path together [with] how you can help them, how they can help you. However, it is all about the results, so that is what takes precedence over everything.
Potter continued, “At Brighton, we started off as a bottom-three Premier League team, and we’re trying to change the playing style.
You have to try and persuade the players and go through a process of working with and developing the players, changing the players, and over time, the team advances, and then the team functions and everything is fine. “You can imagine you get all the narratives that say ‘you can’t do that, you need to fight and need to do this so you have to try and persuade.
“You have to experience it. Along the route, there is discomfort and anguish. I believe that in order to try something new, you must fail. I wouldn’t be right if I said anything else. According to my experience, there is no shortcut.
There were numerous reasons to move to Chelsea, among them the fact that it has a superb football team that may be among the best in the world and is capable of challenging for any major title.
If you look at the league table and the points differential between the top two, I think we can all agree that we are not at that stage right now and have not been for two, three, or four years. How do you get there, then? We are here because of the difficult work, discomfort, and suffering involved in progressing, learning, and otherwise advancing the situation.
The Carabao Cup match between Chelsea and Manchester City is on Wednesday. This weekend, Chelsea will play Newcastle United in the Premier League.
Potter replied, “We can do a lot better. The challenge is to do that, and that’s what we’re aiming towards.
We’re anticipating the games versus City and Newcastle because those are the times when you really get to know each other, so that’s why.
