Former Chelsea player Joe Cole has voiced a cautionary note regarding the potential departure of Armando Broja from Stamford Bridge before the transfer window concludes.
Despite reports suggesting that Chelsea is open to parting ways with Broja for a fee in the vicinity of £35 million, journalist Ben Jacobs has indicated, Joe Cole urges the club to exercise prudence and reconsider their decision. Speaking to football.london, Cole emphasizes that the young striker still possesses untapped potential and should be given the necessary time to blossom, advising against any hasty actions by his former club.
Broja, having made 19 appearances for Chelsea this season and netting two goals, has caught the attention of clubs like Fulham, with journalist Simon Phillips revealing a rejected offer from the West London rivals.
Expressing his confidence in Broja’s development within the Chelsea setup, Cole states, “I also think that Armando has got time to develop in a Chelsea shirt. He’s just come back from an injury, he’s not played as many games as Conor [Gallagher], he’s not as established yet simply because of time, but I’d like to see that they’ve really considered that before they make a decision.”
Acknowledging that Broja may not be the most prolific striker at the moment, Cole contends that the limited opportunities this season, coupled with his age of 22, allow room for him to evolve into a more well-rounded forward.
In light of these factors and considering the advanced stage of the transfer window, Cole suggests that forcing Broja out of Chelsea might not be the wisest move. The placement of a price tag on his head indicates a potential departure, but Cole advocates for a more thoughtful evaluation before finalizing any decisions about the promising striker.
