Callum Hudson-Odoi, a Chelsea winger, has been out for two months.
The 21-year-old suffered an injury in Chelsea’s FA Cup triumph against Luton Town in early March and hasn’t played since.
He was supposed to rejoin the team in April, but he had a relapse.
Hudson-Odoi, who has made 28 appearances for Chelsea this season, is yet to return to team training and is instead working on his individual skills in preparation for next season.
Tuchel revealed to the media today that Hudson-Odoi will return to squad training on July 2 as the club prepares for pre-season activity.
“He’s still growing in individual training, but not in team training,” Tuchel remarked.
“Like Ben Chilwell, he’ll arrive early in the preseason to begin an individual program before returning to squad training on July 2.”
Thomas Tuchel noted in April that Hudson-injury Odoi’s came at the worst possible time of the season when he was at his best.
“With Callum, it doesn’t seem good at the moment, and it’s more a question of weeks than days,” the Blues coach stated.
“It’s a pity for Callum because it’s a setback.” He played in the Club World Cup final and contributed an assist. In that game, and during that period of the season when he was playing and contributing frequently, he was essential on the left side for us.
“It was probably the time of the season when he was playing his most regular football and did very well for us, occasionally as a left wing-back but mostly as a more aggressive winger on the left.”
“He was settling into his role until his season was abruptly cut short.” Of course, it’s not his fault, but having him gone for so long is a setback for both him and us.”
