Cascarino Criticizes Jadon Sancho’s Performance Against Nottingham Forest
Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has voiced his dissatisfaction with Jadon Sancho’s performance in Chelsea’s recent match against Nottingham Forest. Sancho struggled to make an impact, particularly against Forest defender Ola Aina, leaving Cascarino unimpressed with the winger’s overall style of play.
Sancho Needs to Step Up
Cascarino has warned that Sancho risks losing his spot in the starting lineup if he doesn’t start contributing more following his move from Manchester United. He believes Sancho is playing too cautiously and needs to take more risks on the pitch.
“Sancho can’t afford to be mediocre; he has to offer more if he wants to be picked ahead of players like Christopher Nkunku, Pedro Neto, and Mykhailo Mudryk,” Cascarino told The Times.
He went on to point out how Mudryk’s brief appearance in injury time caused problems for Forest due to his direct approach, contrasting sharply with Sancho’s cautious play.
A Turning Point in Sancho’s Career?
Sancho’s time at Borussia Dortmund was marked by success, but things didn’t work out at Manchester United. Cascarino believes Sancho’s future now hinges on how he performs at Chelsea. “What happens at Chelsea will dictate where his career is heading,” Cascarino noted.
At a big club like Chelsea, Cascarino emphasized, consistency is key. “It’s about your level of performance, and that’s how you’ll be judged. The expectations are much higher at clubs like Chelsea,” he added.
Sancho’s Loan Deal with Chelsea
Chelsea initially brought Sancho in on loan, but the deal includes an obligation to buy for a fee ranging between £25 million and £29 million next summer. If Sancho doesn’t improve, his future at Chelsea—and in top-flight football—could be in jeopardy.
