“He Makes Us Suffer!” – Benfica Coach Admits He WISHES Chelsea’s Star Was On His Side After Brutal 4-1 Defeat
Benfica head coach Bruno Lage has showered praise on Chelsea duo Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez ahead of their FIFA Club World Cup last-16 showdown on Saturday night.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Lage described Neto as a “dangerous footballer” and hailed Fernandez as one of the finest midfielders in the world.
“There were actually rumours, before Enzo joined Chelsea, that he might come to Wolves,” Lage revealed. “Chelsea spent heavily to bring him in, and rightly so — he’s one of the best midfielders in the world.”
The Portuguese manager went on to highlight Pedro Neto, whom he knows particularly well from their time in the Premier League.
“The player I truly know is Pedro Neto. He’s incredibly dangerous because he can attack on either foot, left or right. Facing him is always tough — he makes us suffer a lot.”
Fernandez, who was signed by Chelsea from Benfica two years ago following his standout performances at the 2022 World Cup with Argentina, will be returning to face his former club. Neto, meanwhile, made the switch to Stamford Bridge from Wolves last year.
