However, Thomas Tuchel’s side hadn’t triumphed against the Toffees at Goodison Park since 2017. The Blues controlled the first half with 68 percent of the possession and 11 shot attempts.
But to destroy Everton, a penalty was required. Abdoulaye Doucoure fouled Ben Chilwell in the penalty area, and Jorginho converted it to score the game-winning goal.
The Toffees increased the ante in the second half, raising their possession to 42 percent and making three out of five tries. However, they were unable to get the equalizer.
Despite the Blues scoring their first three points of the year, several supporters weren’t thrilled with Havertz’s performance. The German attempted nine ground battles, only three of which were successful, fouled three times, and lost eight times. He was replaced by Armando Broja in the 75th minute.

Additionally, Havertz joined the west London team in 2020 from Bayer Leverkusen for €85 million, although his tenure there hasn’t been very successful. In 57 Premier League appearances, he has scored 12 goals and given six assists.
But in the 2020–21 UEFA Champions League final, they defeated Manchester City thanks to his lone goal. Romelu Lukaku will be returning to Inter Milan on loan this summer, therefore Havertz must be more ruthless in front of goal.
