Graham Potter was confused has Chelsea star suffer injury while on international duty ahead of busy October
Christian Pulisic has suffered an injury while on international duty with the United States, just in time for Chelsea’s hectic October schedule.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) has announced that Christian Pulisic will be evaluated ahead of their next match against Saudi Arabia.
The Chelsea winger was ruled out of Friday’s match against Japan due to an injury sustained during a training session earlier in the week. Pulisic, the team’s star player, will now be “evaluated” ahead of the match against Saudi Arabia.
According to a statement on the USMNT’s official website: “Christian Pulisic is not on the roster today due to a knock he received earlier this week in practise. He will be evaluated on a daily basis for his availability to face Saudi Arabia on September 27 in Murcia, Spain.”
The game in Spain will be their last before the World Cup in Qatar later this year. The United States is in a group with England, Wales, and Iran.
Pulisic’s future at Chelsea is uncertain, and he will be hoping for a fresh start under Graham Potter to get in the best shape possible for the World Cup. The 23-year-old winger came on as a late substitute in Potter’s first match as Chelsea manager, a 1-1 draw with Red Bull Salzburg.
The American will be hoping to be fit for Chelsea’s first game back from the two-week international break when they travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace. Despite not playing regularly under former head coach Thomas Tuchel, Pulisic could see a lot more action this month in what is expected to be a hectic period for the Blues.
Chelsea has nine games – in all competitions – scheduled in the next 29 days. The so-called ‘fringe players,’ such as Hakim Ziyech and Pulisic, could be used more frequently in order for Potter to rest some of his squad members.
It’s the ideal opportunity for Pulisic to relaunch his Chelsea career. The American forward is said to have wanted to leave Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window. He had suitors, but Chelsea was hesitant to let him go after the departures of fellow forwards Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner.
