Graham Potter warns Hakim Ziyech in training over transfer link
Despite a successful World Cup that strengthened his case for a starting position, Hakim Ziyech has been advised to “be patient” for his opportunity at Chelsea.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! As a peripheral member of Chelsea’s lineup under manager Graham Potter, Ziyech travelled to Qatar.
Ziyech performed admirably during Morocco’s journey to the semi-finals, but Potter has emphasised that the winger must be patient because there are so many talented players vying for the same position.
He played against Manchester City and substituted for Newcastle. At the time we first arrived, he was a little bit far from the starting XI, according to Potter, who spoke at a news conference on Friday.
He participated in the matches and entered as a substitute in the opening match. We are aware of his strengths, we admire him as a player, and we have seen him play fantastically well between the lines at the World Cup.
At Chelsea, there are frequently capable players who must exercise patience in the absence of their starting lineup. delighted for him and maintained contact with him during the World Cup.
“Happy for him that he got the game time, happy for him that he assisted his team, he’s a decent man and he’s got quality,” someone said.
Since moving to Chelsea from Ajax in 2020, the Moroccan has struggled in west London and has fallen short of the goals that had been previously set for him.
Italy, notably AC Milan, has expressed interest in Ziyech, who is under contract until 2025.
Ziyech’s success with his national side, according to former Chelsea winger Joe Cole, is evidence that English football is not a good fit for him.
He simply appears to be a happy player for Morocco, according to Cole. He has struggled mightily at Chelsea and lacks consistency in his play.
The Premier League is not his cup of tea. It’s aggressive and fluctuates. He could hug the touchline while playing for Ajax, and the club would frequently play through the lines to find him with the ball. He has a great left foot, so he comes inside and delivers the ball. However, when we’ve watched him play here in Qatar, he’s been playing intensely while grinning. Ziyech is a gifted young man, but Chelsea hasn’t been the right fit for him.
After the outstanding season he had for Ajax just before coming, there were high expectations for Ziyech when he first arrived at Stamford Bridge.
In his final season at the Johan Cruyff Arena, the 29-year-old collected six goals and 13 assists, which convinced Chelsea to pay €40 million (£34.4 million) for his services.
Ziyech played 165 games with the Dutch juggernauts, scoring 49 goals and dishing out 81 assists overall. In contrast, he has only managed 14 goals and 10 assists in 92 appearances for Chelsea.
