He made this revelation during an interview on The Beautiful Game Podcast. Crystal Palace was reportedly leading the race for Reece’s signature, with Brighton and Newcastle also showing interest.
Nigel James expressed his desire for Reece to leave Chelsea and seek regular first-team football elsewhere. This was after Reece had a successful loan spell at Wigan in the 2018/19 season, where he was named in the Championship Team of the Season.
Despite his father’s wishes, Reece James remained at Chelsea, and since then, he has developed into one of the best right-backs in Europe and the Premier League.
In terms of Reece’s fitness, Nigel James mentioned that his son is in good shape and has been training abroad during the summer. After missing several Premier League games due to injury last season, Reece is now preparing for a strong campaign under Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea.
Fans will be hopeful that Reece James can stay fit and make a significant impact for Chelsea in the upcoming season.
