Manchester City will shortly declare Raheem Sterling a Chelsea player.
Sterling will earn £300,000 per week on his new deal, overtaking N’Golo Kante as Chelsea’s highest-paid player.
Under Pep Guardiola, Chelsea is also pushing through agreements with other clubs.
According to Sport, Nathan Ake’s re-signing is the subject of “advanced discussions” between Chelsea and Manchester City.
The discussions have ‘advanced’ lately, and Ake is ‘open’ to joining Chelsea.
Even though no deal has yet been reached, there have been “serious negotiations” about moving the Dutch international.
Ake’s return to Stamford Bridge is planned, and the transfer of money and other personal aspects have been discussed.
Ake has played 40 times in two seasons at Manchester City, but he hasn’t been able to establish himself as a starter.
Ake is expected to play more often for Chelsea in lieu of the departed Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger.
Former Chelsea right-back Glen Johnson, though, has questioned the pact.
Johnson thinks that Ake won’t excite the fans and isn’t a suitable replacement for the late Antonio Rudiger.
When questioned by GGRecon whether Chelsea supporters would be “underwhelmed” if Ake took Rudiger’s position, Johnson responded in the negative. Yes, without a doubt, the former Blues right-back said.
“With no offense intended for Ake, I believe the majority of people were astonished when he signed with Manchester City, especially for that kind of money [£40m]. To put it another way, he didn’t really blow me away at Bournemouth. He is only “OK.”
“When we later saw how much money was needed for him to go to the City, we exclaimed, “Jesus, where have they seen that?” He is in no way a Rudiger replacement, in my opinion.
