Jules Koundé’s price is almost settled between Chelsea and Sevilla, but Barcelona may make a move for the French center-back.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Thomas Tuchel is focussing on reinforcing his defense and wants further additions after Kalidou Koulibaly’s arrival from Napoli last week. Since last summer, Koundé has been a target for Chelsea, who want to sign him.
Tuchel, though, is looking to bring in three center-backs.
Chelsea was unsuccessful in luring Nathan Aké away from Manchester City, but they have spoken with PSG about Presnel Kimpembe and are keeping an eye on RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol. Kimpembe and Gvardiol would occupy the left-sided center-back position left open by Antonio Rüdiger’s transfer to Real Madrid.
Koundé, a right-sided center-back who is reported to have signed a personal agreement with Chelsea, will take over as Andreas Christensen’s successor if the Dane leaves for Barcelona.
Koundé, who can also play right wing-back or right defender, is reportedly up for sale from Sevilla for €60 million. Due to the fact that Barça acquired Raphinha from Leeds before Tuchel’s club, Chelsea may have to battle with them for the France international.
Koundé was not acquired by Chelsea last summer because a price agreement with Sevilla could not be reached. In the event that César Azpilicueta, 23, joins Stamford Bridge, Tuchel may allow the player to depart. Barcelona is interested in the captain of Chelsea.
Chelsea’s owners are in favor of Tuchel. They strengthened the attack by obtaining Raheem Sterling from City in a deal worth up to £50 million.
