‘Every mistake leads to a goal,’ says Christensen
Andreas Christensen, a centre-back for Chelsea, has criticized his team’s string of poor luck in recent months.
The Dane recognizes that the players have made individual errors, but he is surprised that every error now results in a goal, which was not the case at the start of the season.
“There have been some personal blunders,” Christensen admitted, “which may happen with terrible luck.”
“Teams didn’t score with the opportunities they had in the first half of the season, but they are now.” We’re making mistakes and being penalized as a result.
“Defensively, we’ve always been good, and that’s the first thing we focus on. Once we’re strong on defense, we’ll know what kind of talent we have going ahead.” We’ll almost certainly be given chances in games, and it’ll be up to us whether or not we take them.
“We still believe we’re going to keep a clean sheet in games.” It hasn’t happened yet, but it is where we need to be mentally. We haven’t been performing at our best in recent weeks, so now it’s simply a matter of embracing what has occurred, looking forward, and getting back to what we’ve done so well in recent weeks.
“All we have to do now is keep our heads down and keep working.” There’s nothing we can do about it but learn from it and hopefully stop making these minor blunders.”
