Chelsea Agree Deal to Sell Cesare Casadei to Torino
Chelsea and Torino have reached a final agreement for the permanent transfer of Cesare Casadei, according to Fabrizio Romano. The 21-year-old Italian midfielder is set to return to Serie A after a year and a half at Stamford Bridge.
Transfer Details:
Transfer Fee: €15 million (£12.6m)
Sell-on Clause: 25% of any future transfer fee
Medical Completed: Casadei has already undergone medical tests and signed his contract.
Chelsea’s First Major Sale of the Window
While Chelsea have been relatively quiet in the transfer market this January, this marks their first major sale after weeks of negotiations. The Blues had also been in discussions with Lazio, while Porto reportedly showed late interest, but Torino ultimately won the race.
Casadei’s Time at Chelsea
Casadei joined Chelsea from Inter Milan in 2022 for a similar fee but struggled to break into the first team. He made just 17 appearances for the Blues and spent time on loan at Reading and Leicester City before returning in January.
With this move, Casadei gets a fresh start in Italy’s top flight, while Chelsea recoup most of their initial investment and secure a potential future windfall through the sell-on clause.
