Christopher Nkunku sends Chelsea injury update with positive two-word message
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Chelsea’s forward Christopher Nkunku has provided an update on his recovery from a knee injury via Instagram, keeping fans informed of his progress. The 25-year-old has been sidelined since the end of pre-season due to the untimely injury.
Nkunku initially impressed during the team’s tour of America but was unfortunately ruled out for around four months just before his competitive debut for the club. His absence has posed a challenge for manager Mauricio Pochettino, compelling him to rely on other players like Enzo Fernandez and Conor Gallagher in attacking positions, although it doesn’t suit their natural styles. The situation was exacerbated by a medium-term injury to Carney Chukwuemeka, who had initially taken Nkunku’s place in the side.
In the midst of these challenges, Cole Palmer has arrived from Manchester City but is yet to start a game for Chelsea and has limited Premier League experience.
As Chelsea faces a crucial period of fixtures, Nkunku has shared glimpses of his ongoing recovery on social media. The images posted showcase him engaging in various exercises, including work in a swimming pool and weight training with kettle bells in the gym. The expected return for Nkunku is no earlier than November, with December being a more realistic target. It might extend into 2024 before he is match fit.
Despite facing similar injury setbacks in the previous season and missing the World Cup with France, Nkunku managed to make a successful comeback in domestic action in Germany, finishing as the league’s top scorer. Chelsea remains hopeful that he can replicate this success upon his return, as they continue to miss his influential presence on the field.
