Chelsea step in Swap Deal: ‘Am happy to let Maguire go’ Marc Cucurella To Manchester United, Maguire To CHELSEA ✅✅ It is Happening
In a thrilling Premier League encounter, Manchester United secured a remarkable comeback, winning 3-2 against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Saturday (August 26). Goals from Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, and Bruno Fernandes helped Erik ten Hag’s team recover from a 2-0 deficit within five minutes.
Now, in the world of transfer news, Manchester United is setting its sights on Chelsea’s unsettled midfielder, Marc Cucurella. In other developments, West Ham United has reignited their interest in Manchester United defender Harry Maguire. However, Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea have also entered the race to acquire the services of the England international.
Here’s a closer look at the key Manchester United transfer stories as of August 27, 2023:
Manchester United’s Interest in Marc Cucurella
Marc Cucurella has attracted attention from Old Trafford, with Manchester United showing interest in the player, according to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Red Devils faced a significant setback when Luke Shaw sustained an injury that could keep him sidelined for approximately two months. In response, Ten Hag is eager to secure a replacement for Shaw before the summer transfer window closes and has turned his attention to Cucurella. The Spanish midfielder is surplus to requirements at Chelsea and is likely to be transferred this year.
In his column for Caught Offside, Romano revealed, “Man United manager Erik ten Hag received a blow this week regarding the injury news of Luke Shaw but the club are in the market for a new left-back. United have had contact with three/four players as they look for a last-minute deal over the final week of the transfer window. Discussions are taking place.”
He continued, “One player Man United have enquired about is Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella. There is a chance that the player will leave Stamford Bridge before the transfer window shuts, and United are one club interested, although there is nothing concrete yet.”
Cucurella has not met expectations at Stamford Bridge and may be seeking a fresh start at another club.
West Ham United’s Renewed Interest in Harry Maguire, with Chelsea in the Mix
West Ham United is reportedly planning to revive their interest in Harry Maguire, but Chelsea has now emerged as the frontrunner to secure the English defender, as per The Sun.
Maguire is no longer the first-choice center-back under Ten Hag, who is willing to let him go. Earlier this summer, the Hammers were strongly linked with a move for Maguire. Manchester United had reportedly accepted a £30 million bid for his transfer, and Maguire had even agreed to a four-year deal with West Ham. However, the deal fell through as Maguire sought a substantial payoff from Manchester United to facilitate his departure, which the club was hesitant to provide.
Now, West Ham has reopened negotiations with Maguire to finalize the transfer. Any move would guarantee Maguire playing time, a crucial factor in determining the outcome of the saga.
Sofyan Amrabat Awaits Manchester United
Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is patiently waiting for Manchester United this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Amrabat is expected to depart Fiorentina in the coming days, and Manchester United has identified him as a priority target. However, the Premier League giants must offload players to finance the acquisition. As of now, Manchester United has not submitted a formal bid for the 27-year-old.
Romano noted, “As I have already told you, Sofyan Amrabat is waiting for Man United and will do his best to make the move happen before the transfer window shuts. United have yet to make a formal bid for the player, and that needs to happen for the deal to progress – Fiorentina are expecting them to make a move soon.”
Romano also provided an update on Donny van de Beek, who is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer. “As for Donny van de Beek, the Dutch midfielder remains on Real Sociedad’s list, but they can only proceed with a loan deal, which is why there’s still no agreement regarding the player’s future. Sources feel other clubs could still enter the race next week for Donny as Man United try to move him on.”
The potential departure of Van de Beek could pave the way for Amrabat’s arrival at the club.
