Chelsea wants to spend £300 million this summer after submitting a proposal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The Blues are still committed to signing Wesley Fofana and Anthony Gordon, but they have made a bid of £15 million plus Marcos Alonso for Aubameyang.
The 3-0 loss against Leeds yesterday highlighted the need for additional hires, and Chelsea is now prepared to accelerate up their effort to bolster their roster before the window shuts. Chelsea spoke with Aubameyang’s agents last week in an effort to persuade the former Arsenal striker to join them at Stamford Bridge. Aubameyang has been hesitant to leave Barcelona.
After having two offers for Fofana rejected, Chelsea will have to pay more than £80 million to Leicester to get the 21-year-old defender, who is now the most expensive defender in the world.
Since Brendan Rodgers did not believe Fofana was in the appropriate frame of mind to play on Saturday, he left him out of the Leicester squad. Fofana is eager to transfer to Stamford Bridge.
Gordon, an Everton winger, is still eager to join Chelsea. Last week, the Blues’ £45 million offer for the England Under-21 international was turned down. Gordon is a player that Everton does not want to lose, but Frank Lampard has acknowledged that he cannot guarantee that the 21-year-old will remain at Goodison Park.
Chelsea, which has already spent £170 million, would shatter the record for the amount spent on transfers in a single summer if they manage to sign Aubameyang, Fofana, and Gordon over the next 10 days of the summer transfer window.
To compete with Manchester City and Liverpool, according to new owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake, they must make investments. They support Thomas Tuchel, who has held preliminary discussions about extending his contract through 2024.
The transfer window is still open, and as it gets later and later, Tuchel said: “We need to concentrate on what we have and what we can achieve.”
