Chelsea Eyeing New Star Attackers in Busy Summer Window
Chelsea has been presented with the opportunity to sign a £205,000-per-week PSG star who could address a crucial transfer need for their new head coach, Enzo Maresca, this summer.
Major Summer Spending
Todd Boehly and BlueCo have been making headlines with their significant spending this transfer window, having invested nearly £120 million on eight new signings. The arrivals of Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Omari Kellyman, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Estevao Willian, and Renato Veiga have cost Chelsea approximately £93 million. Recently, deals for Aaron Anselmino and Caleb Wiley added another £25.5 million to the tally, according to The Athletic.
Despite this substantial outlay, Chelsea is still looking to strengthen their squad before the transfer deadline on August 30. The club is reportedly in the market for a new winger, with Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi and Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams on their radar.
Search for a New Striker
Maresca has expressed a desire for a new striker, leading to a failed bid for Atletico Madrid’s young talent, Samu Omorodion. Other big names, such as Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, have been linked to Chelsea, but a move for the Nigerian star seems less likely due to the high cost involved.
Alternative Striker Options
Chelsea has also considered Lille’s Jonathan David as a more affordable option and even made an ambitious attempt to sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak earlier this month. Last season, Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson were key to Chelsea’s goalscoring efforts, but Maresca is keen to bring in another striker to share the load.
Chelsea Offered PSG Striker Randal Kolo Muani
According to HITC, PSG has offered Chelsea the chance to sign Randal Kolo Muani. PSG is looking to offload strikers to make room for Osimhen. To facilitate a deal with Napoli for the Nigerian striker, PSG needs to move both Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos out of the squad.
Kolo Muani’s Potential Impact
Kolo Muani, who has been praised as a “complete” striker by Kylian Mbappe, scored 23 goals and provided 17 assists during the 22/23 season for Eintracht Frankfurt before joining PSG last summer. Although he has not replicated that form at PSG, earning around £205,000-per-week, Maresca could offer him a fresh start at Chelsea. This development is certainly one to watch as the transfer window progresses.
