Chelsea is gearing up for a busy transfer window to support new manager Enzo Maresca. The club has already secured several signings: Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer, Marc Guiu for £5 million from Barcelona, Omari Kellyman for £19 million, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall for around £30 million, and Brazilian starlet Estevao Willian for £51 million.
Balancing the Books
Chelsea’s spending has reached around £105 million just three weeks into the transfer window. However, they’ve also sold players like Thiago Silva, Hakim Ziyech, Lewis Hall, Omari Hutchinson, and Ian Maatsen, bringing in approximately £84 million. This leaves Todd Boehly’s net spend at a modest £21 million.
Eyeing the PSR Deadline
With this financial maneuvering, Chelsea seems well-prepared for the PSR deadline next year, depending on future deals. They are also competing with Arsenal to sign Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori, who impressed at Euro 2024 with Italy and helped his club secure a Champions League spot.
Pursuit of Riccardo Calafiori
Reports suggest Chelsea is set to submit a bid for Calafiori, expected to cost around £42 million. Despite already signing Tosin, insider Fabrizio Romano hinted that Chelsea might bring in two center-backs this summer.
Strengthening the Squad for Maresca
Chelsea is also likely to support Maresca with more forward additions, targeting some of the brightest talents in world football. Napoli star Victor Osimhen is one option, with the club possibly making an offer below his £113 million release clause.
Brazilian Talent on the Radar
Reports from France indicate that Chelsea might target Brazil again, eyeing Corinthians teenager Wesley Gassova. Wesley, with seven goals and five assists in 72 senior appearances, has drawn comparisons to Mbappe for his dribbling speed.
Competing with West Ham for Wesley
According to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, Chelsea has made an offer for Wesley, though financial details weren’t disclosed. West Ham is also interested, aiming to add another Brazilian sensation after securing Luis Guilherme. Corinthians are likely to demand around £30 million for the 19-year-old, who has many admirers in Ligue 1.
