Chelsea: N’Golo Kante’s replacement arrives as Todd Boehly’s order faces huge outlay
Declan Rice of West Ham is a midfielder that Chelsea is interested in, which suggests they may already have a plan in place for N’Golo Kante’s replacement. Kante hasn’t played since the middle of August due to a string of ailments in recent seasons.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Just a few weeks after helping Leicester shock the football world by winning the Premier League, Kante was acquired by Chelsea from Leicester. During his debut season at Stamford Bridge, the France international went on to win the Premier League title. He has also won the Champions League, Europa League, Club World Cup, and FA Cup during his stay in west London.
Kante has participated in 262 games for the Blues, but his games are getting fewer in between. The 31-year-old was injured for almost a third of his team’s Premier League games last year. Additionally, he was only allowed to make two appearances this time.
Kante’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, and as a result of his fitness issues, he has lost some of his influence at Stamford Bridge. Club executives will therefore look for a player to step into his shoes. And Rice seems to meet the criteria.
When Rice was a teen, he was a member of the Chelsea academy, but once the club discharged him, he moved to east London. Following his success at Euro 2020, the Blues were expected to bring the England international back to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2021. He has, however, continued to stay at the London Stadium.
Rice is still at the top of Chelsea’s wanted list for 2023, according to 90Min. The player wasn’t for sale when Todd Boehly, who acquired the Blues at the end of May, inquired about him with West Ham during the summer. He will also need to reach deep into his wallet if he wants to close a deal with Rice.
Rice’s current deal with West Ham may keep him there until 2025. The 23-year-value old’s was also disputed by Hammers manager David Moyes in the spring, who maintained he was worth at least £150 million. He is not for sale, to start with, the former Manchester United manager declared.
It will be north of there if you’re interested (100m). Last summer, one hundred was affordable. Right now, $150 would be the absolute minimum, but he is not for sale. What I do know is that it means that only a select few clubs would even be able to consider it.
