Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Despite being inactive in any games this weekend, there is still a lot of excitement at Stamford Bridge with off-field decisions taking place. Frank Lampard is currently serving as the club’s caretaker manager, taking over from Graham Potter, who was recently dismissed. Nevertheless, the club is looking for a permanent replacement.
Mauricio Pochettino, who has extensive knowledge of London from his five-year tenure at Tottenham, is now a leading contender for the vacant position at Stamford Bridge.
According to The Independent, Chelsea has progressed to the next stage of talks with Pochettino regarding him taking over as the next manager. However, he still has to beat out Vincent Kompany and an undisclosed candidate to secure the role.
Sky Sports pundit, Sherwood, stated that Chelsea should appoint Pochettino, despite his connection to Tottenham. “Because of that [Tottenham] connection, it’s going to be tough for Pochettino. But I believe he’s the right man,” he told Sky Sports, as quoted by Football Daily.
It’s challenging to overlook Pochettino’s significant connections with Spurs. However, Chelsea has shown in recent seasons that loyalty in football can change quickly by employing the likes of Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho. According to The Guardian, the club is leaning towards offering Pochettino the job.
If Pochettino is chosen as the Blues’ next manager, supporters will need to quickly put his Spurs allegiances to the back of their minds. He was instrumental in constructing an eye-catching team during his time at Tottenham, and we can’t wait to see what he can do with Chelsea’s young group.
