Gustavo Poyet, a former Chelsea midfielder, wants his old team to acquire Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus this summer.
Poyet stated that if Chelsea begins the preseason without De Ligt, he would be concerned.
De Ligt has been linked to a summer transfer from Juventus to Chelsea.
Following the sale of Antonio Rudiger to Real Madrid and the impending departure of Andreas Christensen, Chelsea is looking to add a new center-back to their squad this summer.
Poyet advised Lord Ping that center defense is the place Chelsea needs to enhance the most.
“De Ligt is an intriguing player since after leaving his previous club, he moved to a place where he needed to make significant tactical improvements in order to compete at that level.
He may be an intriguing player for Chelsea if he wants to transfer and they can afford him. I will be concerned if Chelsea begins the preseason without the elite center-back.
