New Forwards in Chelsea’s Sights After Active Summer Transfer Window
Chelsea’s sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley have led an extremely active summer transfer window, among the busiest in the Premier League. The club has officially confirmed the signings of Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Omari Kellyman, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Brazilian prodigy Estevao Willian. These acquisitions have cost Todd Boehly around £81 million, excluding additional fees in Estevao’s contract. The anticipated arrival of Basel defender Renato Veiga is expected to push their total spending to approximately £93 million.
Despite the hefty spending, Chelsea has managed a net spend of just £4 million, thanks to generating £89 million through player sales this summer, thus maintaining compliance with PSR guidelines.

Chelsea is keen to support new manager Enzo Maresca for his debut season, seeking to bolster their attacking options. The club remains in the hunt for a new striker, having relied heavily on Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson under Mauricio Pochettino. Reports from Spain suggest that Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams is on Chelsea’s radar, along with Rennes’ promising forward, Desire Doue.
There is growing speculation that Maresca is prioritizing a new left-winger to provide serious competition for Sterling. Last season, Sterling, who missed out on a spot in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024, scored 10 goals and assisted eight more in 43 appearances across all competitions. However, he found himself benched more frequently towards the end of the 2023/2024 season, with some reports suggesting a possible departure from Chelsea this summer.
Chelsea in Talks with Adeyemi for Sterling Alternative
According to TEAMtalk and journalist Rudy Galetti, Chelsea is seriously targeting Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi as they search for another left-winger. The 22-year-old German, who contributed seven goals for Dortmund last season, could be available for around £25 million. Chelsea is reportedly in negotiations with Adeyemi and his representatives regarding a potential transfer, with Galetti stating that Adeyemi is considered Chelsea’s primary attacking target.
Discussions with Adeyemi and his camp are expected to continue this week, and Chelsea views him as an alternative to Doue due to the increasing competition for his signature.
