Chelsea Targeting New Striker
Chelsea is reportedly eyeing a new signing to further bolster their attack in the upcoming transfer windows. Despite a strong start to the season, they are looking for additional firepower to support Enzo Maresca’s side.
Chelsea Looking for Alternatives Despite Nicolas Jackson’s Form
Nicolas Jackson had a challenging debut season at Chelsea after his move from Villarreal, but the Senegalese striker has turned things around in the 2024/25 Premier League campaign. Jackson scored in the match against Liverpool, bringing his goal tally to five this season, along with three assists. His goal contributions are coming in at an impressive rate—one every 78 minutes—just shy of Erling Haaland’s average of 72 minutes per goal contribution.
However, Chelsea appears eager to explore new options for their forward line. Despite offering Jackson a new and improved contract, they had been strongly linked with Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen during the summer transfer window.
Failed Osimhen Deal and Future Plans
Chelsea’s pursuit of Victor Osimhen from Napoli ultimately fell through. Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, now managing Napoli, refused to reintegrate Osimhen into the team, resulting in his loan move to Turkish side Galatasaray. Osimhen has since found success there, scoring three goals in four matches.
Chelsea remains in touch regarding a possible January deal for Osimhen, but the club is also considering other options. With Osimhen expected to come with a hefty price tag and high expectations for a starting role, Chelsea is wary after their expensive and unsuccessful deal for Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan. Now, they have set their sights on a different player.
Omar Marmoush: A New Target for Chelsea’s Attack
According to reports from TEAMtalk, Chelsea is in discussions over a potential move for Egyptian striker Omar Marmoush, currently playing for Eintracht Frankfurt. Marmoush, who was linked with a transfer to West Ham in the summer, has had an outstanding start to the Bundesliga season. He has racked up nine goals and four assists in just seven matches, contributing to a goal or assist every 45 minutes—faster than Haaland’s impressive output.
This prolific form has attracted attention from other Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Arsenal. However, Chelsea is reportedly the most serious contender for his signature, with talks already underway for a potential deal in 2025.
While Marmoush would be less expensive than Osimhen, he wouldn’t come cheap either. With a contract running until 2027, Eintracht Frankfurt is expected to demand at least £50m (€60m / $65m) for their star forward, a fee that could rise if his strong performances continue.
Marmoush Could Strengthen Chelsea’s Attacking Options
At present, Chelsea’s frontline consists of Jackson, João Félix, and Christopher Nkunku, a trio that cost the club £125m in total. Marmoush, with his outstanding goalscoring form in Germany, could add a new level of firepower to the Blues’ attack and possibly outshine the current forwards if he can replicate his Bundesliga success in the Premier League.
