Seeking a New Striker
Chelsea is actively pursuing a new forward during this transfer window. New manager Enzo Maresca isn’t comfortable starting the season with just Nicolas Jackson as the sole first-team striker, hinting that Armando Broja, currently returning from Euro 2024 after Albania’s exit, might not stay with the club.
Jonathan David Emerges as a Top Target
Several names have surfaced on Chelsea’s shortlist, but a familiar one has reappeared at the top: Jonathan David. The Lille striker has been on Chelsea’s radar for multiple transfer windows, and with his contract set to expire next summer, he could be available at a reduced price.
Chelsea Inquires About Jonathan David
“A move to the Premier League is currently the most likely. David, on the verge to leave Lille this summer with one year left on his contract. Price valuation at this stage: €20-25m!”
Journalist Florian Plettenberg reported on Twitter that Chelsea has recently inquired about Jonathan David. However, Chelsea isn’t the only Premier League club interested; West Ham and Manchester United are also keeping tabs on the 24-year-old forward. Plettenberg tweeted: “Chelsea and West Ham are seriously interested in Jonathan David. Chelsea have inquired about the 24 y/o top striker from Lille in recent days. West Ham have also gathered information. He’s also on the shortlist of ManUtd.”
Enzo Maresca’s Interest in Marc Guiu
While Jonathan David could add depth, any new striker might initially play second fiddle to Nicolas Jackson, who impressed in his debut Premier League season. If Maresca has his way, Chelsea would finalize the addition of Marc Guiu from Barcelona. The manager is reportedly spearheading the effort to bring the promising 18-year-old to Stamford Bridge this summer.
