Despite Nicolas Jackson’s impressive form this season, Chelsea continues to be linked with signing another striker.
Jackson’s Impact for Chelsea
The 23-year-old has been a revelation for the Blues, scoring eight goals in 13 Premier League appearances. Backing him up is Christopher Nkunku, Chelsea’s top scorer across all competitions with 12 goals so far. Together, they’ve formed a formidable attacking duo, making the striker position far from problematic.
Yet, Chelsea’s interest in bolstering their attack persists.
Chelsea Targeting Alexander Isak
Chelsea reportedly has its sights set on Newcastle’s Alexander Isak. However, should a move for Isak not materialize, the club is also keeping tabs on two high-profile alternatives: Victor Osimhen and Dusan Vlahovic.
Victor Osimhen and Dusan Vlahovic on Chelsea’s Radar
Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray but owned by Napoli, is expected to be available next summer. The 25-year-old striker has already been replaced at Napoli by former Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku, potentially paving the way for a move.
Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic is another name in the mix. Interestingly, if Chelsea opts for Vlahovic, Juventus may target Osimhen as a replacement, creating an intriguing transfer domino effect.
Comparing Osimhen and Vlahovic
If Chelsea decides to bring in a new striker, Victor Osimhen appears to be the more appealing choice based on recent performances.
Over the past two Serie A seasons, Osimhen has consistently outperformed Vlahovic as a finisher. Last season, Osimhen netted 26 goals in 32 league matches, compared to Vlahovic’s 10 in 27 appearances. Remarkably, Osimhen scored just one goal fewer than Vlahovic the previous season despite playing 330 fewer minutes.
Do Chelsea Really Need Another Striker?
With Jackson delivering and Nkunku thriving, Chelsea may not need to sign another forward. However, should they feel the need to bolster their attacking options, Osimhen’s efficiency and proven goal-scoring ability make him the standout candidate.
For now, the Blues seem well-equipped in the striker department, but their ongoing links to Isak, Osimhen, and Vlahovic suggest they’re leaving no stone unturned as they plan for the future.
