Chelsea fans are now making same point about Reece James after he returns to first-team training
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has received a significant boost as captain Reece James has returned to first-team training. James, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury, has yet to play a match under Maresca this season, but his return to training offers a positive sign for the club.
Cautious Approach for Liverpool Match
Although James is back in training, it may be too soon for him to feature in Chelsea’s upcoming game against Liverpool on Sunday. The club is likely to take a cautious approach, considering his history of injury issues. Last week, journalist Matt Law mentioned that this would be the week James would return to training, which has now been confirmed.
Chelsea Fans Thrilled with James’ Return
Chelsea supporters are ecstatic about James’ return to Cobham. Many fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their excitement, with several declaring him the best right-back in the world. One fan, @cfc_kingkal, tweeted: “The best RB in the world. Good to have you back,” while @darwincarrera and @Olaz01 echoed similar sentiments.
Despite rumors of a potential move to Barcelona, James’ priority has always been recovering from his injury and getting back on the pitch for Chelsea.
When Will James Make His First Appearance?
While it seems unlikely that James will feature in the starting lineup against Liverpool, he could make the bench. Chelsea’s next opportunity to ease him back into action could be in their Conference League match against Panathinaikos, before considering him for a starting role in their Premier League fixture against Newcastle United.
The club will need to manage James’ fitness carefully, especially with concerns over Malo Gusto’s heavy workload at right-back. With a long season ahead, including participation in the Club World Cup next summer, Maresca will want both of his right-backs in top form.
For now, it’s expected that Gusto will retain his starting spot for the Liverpool clash, as Chelsea continues to ease James back into action.
