Benjamin Sesko Shines Despite RB Leipzig’s Loss to Juventus
RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko showed exactly why Chelsea and other clubs were eager to sign him this summer with an impressive display against Juventus in the Champions League.
Though Leipzig eventually lost the match, Sesko stood out by scoring two goals, further proving his potential.
Chelsea’s Interest in Sesko
Chelsea had expressed interest in bringing Sesko to Stamford Bridge, but the 21-year-old decided to sign a new contract and remain with Leipzig. Since then, he’s had a strong start to the season, scoring six goals in eight games.
Chelsea Fans React to Sesko’s Goals
Sesko’s first goal against Juventus—a thunderous shot that ricocheted in off the crossbar—drew plenty of admiration from Chelsea fans. Many took to social media platform X to voice their approval.
User @CFCDatro tweeted, “Nah, Sesko is the truth. Get him to Stamford Bridge in the summer,” reflecting the widespread desire for Chelsea to pursue the young talent again.
This isn’t the first time Sesko has caught the eye of Chelsea supporters. He also impressed them with his performance in Slovenia’s 3-0 win over Kazakhstan last month.
Sesko’s Rising Stats and Development
Last season, Sesko netted 18 goals in 42 appearances for Leipzig. Before that, during his time at Red Bull Salzburg, he scored 29 goals in 79 games.
These numbers are impressive for someone so young, and Sesko continues to develop his skills. As he matures, it’s expected that he’ll become even more prolific in front of goal.
Sesko’s Decision to Stay at Leipzig
For now, Sesko’s decision to stay at Leipzig seems to be paying off, as he continues to perform well in the Champions League. His development at Leipzig is on the right track, and he’s unlikely to regret his choice to remain in Germany.
At some point, however, it’s likely that the Slovenian international will move to one of Europe’s elite clubs. Chelsea may very well reignite their pursuit of him, especially after missing out on a marquee striker in the last transfer window.
Still, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca will be happy with his current striking options, with Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku both contributing goals in the early stages of the season.
