Chelsea fans all make same point after watching Michael Olise’s Champions League debut’
Chelsea Fans React to Michael Olise’s Champions League Debut for Bayern Munich
Chelsea supporters were closely watching Michael Olise’s debut in the Champions League on Tuesday night. Olise, who was on Chelsea’s radar during the summer transfer window, ended up joining Bayern Munich instead of the Blues.
Olise’s Impressive Champions League Debut
The 22-year-old winger made a strong first impression in Europe’s elite competition, scoring twice in Bayern Munich’s 9-2 demolition of Dinamo Zagreb. Chelsea fans were quick to notice his performance, given the club’s interest in him during the summer.
Chelsea’s Alternative Signings: Sancho and Neto
While Chelsea missed out on Olise, they still managed to bring in talented wingers like Jadon Sancho and Pedro Neto. Sancho, in particular, has already made his mark by assisting Christopher Nkunku’s winner against Bournemouth last weekend. Arsenal legend David Seaman even praised Sancho’s impactful cameo at the Vitality Stadium.
However, despite these signings, some Chelsea fans still feel disappointed that the club couldn’t secure a deal for Olise.
Fans Express Regret on Social Media
One fan took to X (formerly Twitter) and said, “How did we miss out on him [Jhon Duran] and Olise?” Another user expressed frustration by commenting, “Olise brace on his UCL debut, Onana goal on his UCL debut. Couple their individual ability with Chelsea’s need for their exact profiles, you can’t make this up I fear. I’m once again asking for the sporting director job, Chels.”
A final fan lamented, “Michael Olise is one player I still feel bad we didn’t go all out to sign. Olise would have improved Chelsea drastically.”

Chelsea’s Younger Talent: Richard Olise

Chelsea still have some connection to the Olise family, as Michael’s younger brother, Richard, is part of the club’s academy. Many fans had hoped that Richard’s presence at Cobham might have helped lure Michael to west London, but that wasn’t the case. Now, Michael is showcasing his talent with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
Plenty of Wide Options for Chelsea
Despite missing out on Michael Olise, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca likely isn’t losing sleep over it. The Blues have plenty of depth in the wide positions, with players like Jadon Sancho, Pedro Neto, Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke, and Mykhailo Mudryk competing for spots.
Most of these wingers have contributed to at least one goal this season, whether through a direct goal or an assist. The only exception so far has been Mudryk, who has yet to score or provide an assist in the Premier League.
In short, while Olise’s talent is undeniable, Chelsea’s wide positions remain well-stocked with quality players.
