Frenkie de Jong’s transfer to Chelsea from Barcelona is “near to being agreed upon,” according to Chelsea.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Sport reports that the discussions between the Catalans and the Premier League team are “making headway.”
Despite the Dutchman’s ardent desire to remain at the Nou Camp, the publication claims that the two clubs are extremely close to agreeing to a deal for him.
Sport has been persuaded by insiders with knowledge of the discussions that the numbers on the table make a prospective agreement “beneficial for both parties.”
De Jong will have to make the choice, but he has already been informed that Barcelona would prioritize his departure if he doesn’t lower his salary.
With Chelsea entering the scene later than their Premier League opponents, the club has opted to listen to them just as they have Manchester United.
They have just recently begun “in serious” negotiations and are prepared to offer more than €80 million in total between a set price and variables. Barcelona has fixed that price in order to authorize a sale.
De Jong’s entourage isn’t interested in engaging in discussions on that front, despite the fact that manager Xavi and Joan Laporta are pleased for him to stay and require him to do so on more favorable terms.
They may extend an invitation to the Dutchman to leave if that holds true and a deal is agreed with Chelsea. However, De Jong would still be in the driver’s seat since he is covered by his contract and has no motive to do so or forgo the money he is entitled to.
Chelsea, who is ‘in daily touch with his representatives in an effort to reach a deal, has seen a lot of activity in the interim.
