Chelsea is reportedly eyeing RB Leipzig’s rising star Benjamin Šeško as a potential transfer target, should they need to reinforce their attack in the coming seasons. Despite Chelsea’s current depth in the forward line with players like Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke, Nicolas Jackson, and Christopher Nkunku, manager Enzo Maresca may find himself seeking a more natural center-forward by next summer.
The Chelsea Attack: Current Options and Future Needs
Maresca has a range of attacking talent to choose from, with Palmer and Madueke thriving on the wings, while Jackson and Nkunku share responsibilities up front. Nkunku has been productive, recently netting twice in the Conference League, yet he is not a natural center-forward. His role in Maresca’s squad has been limited, and at 26, he could potentially explore a move next summer. Should this happen, Chelsea would be in the market for a proven striker—where Šeško comes into the picture.

The 21-year-old Slovenian forward remained with RB Leipzig over the summer but has a reported “gentleman’s agreement” to leave the club in 2025, if he wishes. Leipzig could demand a high fee, possibly around €75 million (£62.2 million), for their prolific striker, who has drawn attention across Europe for his pace, finishing, and strength.
Rival Interest: Arsenal, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich
Chelsea won’t be alone in pursuing Šeško, as several clubs are reportedly tracking the young striker. Arsenal, Chelsea’s London rivals, were confident of securing Šeško during the last transfer window. Additionally, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have shown interest, making the potential transfer landscape highly competitive.
FC Bayern has the following strikers on the list, as Harry Kane (31) is the only in their squad:

A Star in the Making
Šeško’s performances on the international stage have also impressed football pundits. Former Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer praised Šeško’s display during the Euro 2024 qualifiers, calling him “outstanding” on the Optus Sport Football Podcast. Known for his athleticism, technical ability, and goal-scoring potential, Šeško is seen as a player with the qualities needed to shine in the Premier League.
The Transfer Battle Ahead
If Šeško chooses to leave Leipzig at the end of the season, Chelsea will likely face stiff competition from Arsenal, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich. Whoever wins the battle for Šeško’s signature will be acquiring a young, high-potential striker who could bring a significant edge to their attacking lineup.
