Brighton fans blast Graham Potter at the Amex Stadium as Chelsea lose

Graham Potter has been warned by Brighton and Hove Albion fans that he will be fired “in the morning” when he returns to the Amex Stadium for Chelsea’s match against the Seagulls. The Seagulls completely destroyed the Blues, with Roberto De Zerbi’s team-leading 3-0 at the half.
In September, Potter moved from the south coast to west London when Thomas Tuchel was fired as a result of the west Londoners’ Champions League group stage opener loss to Dinamo Zagreb. Upon being introduced as Chelsea’s head coach, the 47-year-old, who signed a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge, begged for forgiveness from the supporters.
The former Brighton manager expressed his gratitude for his “three amazing years” as the club’s manager in an open letter that was posted on the Seagulls’ website. He also acknowledged that some fans would not be able to forgive him. It has been three amazing years with a club that has altered his life, and he wrote: “I want to take a minute to say farewell to all of you who have made it such a special time in my career. I say goodbye to a wonderful club that will always hold a special place in my heart and the heart of my family. I am aware that some people find it difficult to grasp how quickly football changes,” Potter continued. “I may not be able to convince you all to overlook my departure, but I would at least like to take the opportunity to express my gratitude,” she said.
Despite Potter’s apologies, Brighton supporters still appear to be nursing their wounds and don’t seem to have accepted his departure well. The Blues manager was greeted with some jeers and a few faux boos as he exited the vehicle at the Amex Stadium.
Potter discussed the match with football.london in advance of the match and expressed his happiness at coming back to Brighton. These incidents occur in football, he said. Opportunities come your way occasionally, and you may choose whether to grab them or not.
The timing wasn’t ideal for anyone, but it does occasionally happen, and the choice is what matters. It was simply too excellent an opportunity to pass up to work here.
“As for the crowd, I don’t really have any expectations. Though I’m not naive, the majority of Brighton residents with whom I’ve spoken have been quite kind and supportive. That’s not always the case, I’m aware.
