Jules Olivier Koundé is a French professional footballer who plays as a center-back for La Liga club Sevilla and the France national team
Chelsea must look ahead, as Antonio Rudiger is set for a move to Real Madrid at the end of the season.
The German has been one of the club’s best players under Thomas Tuchel, and is now rated as a world-class center-back.
Who can Chelsea sign to replace Rudiger?
The club has long been linked with a move for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde. The 23-year-old was expected to join Chelsea last summer, but Sevilla opted against selling, as they increased their demands for his sale, which Chelsea eventually backed out from.
The Frenchman is under contract with Sevilla until 2024, and has a release clause of £67.5m.
Spanish publication Marca has claimed that Sevilla is desperate to sell players this summer, and describes the need for summer player sales at Sevilla as ‘gigantic’.
Marca also claims that Kounde has made up his mind to join Chelsea this summer, and added that the France international was initially frustrated after negotiations between Sevilla and Chelsea broke down last summer but has stayed professional and re-established himself as a key player at the club since.
