Chelsea will need to act swiftly if they want to acquire Milan Skriniar from Inter Milan, according to reports.
The Nerazzurri have set their price for the centre-back, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, after PSG made an initial offer a few days ago.
Last season, the 27-year-old was a near-ever present for Inter, who almost missed regaining their Serie A title on the last day of the season.
For several years, the Slovakian has been one of the league’s best center-backs, with Calciomercato characterizing him as “irreplaceable” and “flawless.”
His contract, though, is scheduled to expire in a year, which has piqued the curiosity of a number of Europe’s premier teams.
Despite the expiration of the contract, the transfer sums being discussed are still significant, with Gazzetta dello Sport saying that PSG has already turned down a £43 million bid.
According to the report, the Italian giants are holding out for roughly £52 million, with Chelsea now knowing where the Nerazzurri are ready to begin talks.
Despite this, it is rumoured that the Parisians may make a second offer for Skriniar, implying that the Blues would need to act swiftly if they are to seal a deal for the Slovakian.
Skriniar would be a good fit for Chelsea’s already-departed defenders, but with no transfer price claimed for either of them, defending the proposed transfer cost might be tough, especially because the defender only has a year remaining on his contract.
With a deal for Jules Kounde from Sevilla in the works for a similar figure, it is doubtful that the Blues will complete a double this summer.
Inter’s rumoured interest in Romelu Lukaku and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, on the other hand, might benefit the Blues by swaying Inter’s preference to West London if they are included in a deal.
