“Be expecting him tomorrow” – New Chelsea player trains for the first time but two key forwards are missing
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Chelsea’s latest signing, Mathis Amougou, has been seen in training for the first time this week as he begins to settle into his new environment in London. The young midfielder, who joined from France on deadline day in January, participated in his first session, offering fans a glimpse of what he could bring to the squad.
However, not all the news from training was positive. Two key attacking players, Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu, were absent from the training pictures posted on X yesterday afternoon. Both players picked up knocks during Chelsea’s victory over West Ham on Monday night. While neither had to be substituted, they appeared to be in discomfort at full-time.
Guiu has since been confirmed as injured and will miss Saturday’s FA Cup clash against Brighton. As for Jackson, there has been no official confirmation regarding his availability, but his absence from training raises concerns. While it’s possible he was simply given a recovery session away from the cameras, the uncertainty is not encouraging for Chelsea fans.
Chelsea’s Striker Dilemma
The Blues’ ongoing struggle to secure a top-class striker remains a major talking point. Over the last five transfer windows, Chelsea has failed to sign a proven number nine. While Nicolas Jackson is a talented player, he seems more suited to a wide forward role rather than leading the line. Similarly, Marc Guiu shows promise but is still young and inexperienced, while Christopher Nkunku is not a natural striker.
In January, Chelsea was linked with several strikers, including Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko. However, no deal materialized, leaving the team once again without a traditional centre-forward.
With Guiu now sidelined and Jackson’s status uncertain, Chelsea may soon regret their failure to bring in a proper striker during the winter transfer window.
