Crooks believes that if Fofana hadn’t taken on this responsibility, Potter may no longer be the Chelsea manager. Fofana’s presence in the team is crucial, particularly with Silva out for several weeks. Crooks also noted that Chelsea’s struggles to score from open play, which made Fofana’s set-piece goal all the more important.
While Potter’s job is safe for now, he will need to impress the owners with a remarkable turnaround against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
