Mykhailo Mudryk: January Transfer Rumors and Chelsea Status
Speculations Surrounding Mudryk’s Future
Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk, a 23-year-old Ukrainian international, has been at the center of transfer rumors as the January window approaches. Currently seen as a rotation player under Enzo Maresca, his limited Premier League appearances have sparked questions about his long-term role at Stamford Bridge.

Mudryk has featured in just one Premier League starting lineup this season, amassing a mere 146 minutes in the league. Instead, the forward has primarily been utilized in cup competitions, where he has thrived. In the Europa Conference League, Mudryk boasts an impressive record of three goals and three assists in four matches. He also played full games in Chelsea’s two League Cup fixtures. Despite this, he has yet to complete a full 90 minutes in a Premier League match under Maresca, making him a potentially marketable player.
Agent’s Stand on the Rumors
Addressing the transfer chatter, Mudryk’s agent, Vadim Shabliy, downplayed the speculation, emphasizing the player’s focus on securing a regular spot in Chelsea’s starting XI.
“Of course, players like Misha will always attract the attention of other clubs and their scouts,” Shabliy said. “But at the moment, he has a contract with Chelsea, and all his thoughts are about how to secure his place in the starting XI.”
Bayern Munich’s Position
Bayern Munich has been one of the clubs linked to Mudryk, but their sporting director, Max Eberl, has dismissed the rumors while acknowledging Mudryk’s talent.
Speaking to BILD, Eberl stated:
“He’s an outstanding player. He has a contract at Chelsea until 2031 and costs a lot of money. Of course, we are monitoring the market, and Mudryk is an exceptional player. But at the moment, it’s just a rumor.”
Kompany’s Input
Bayern manager Vincent Kompany also addressed the links, albeit briefly, following Bayern’s 5-1 Champions League victory over Shakhtar Donetsk.
“To be honest, I haven’t looked into this topic [January deals for Ukrainian players] at all,” Kompany admitted. “I know some wonderful Ukrainian footballers, and you just mentioned Mudryk – but we’ll discuss these matters in January, so we’ll talk about it in 3-4 weeks.”
What Lies Ahead?
For now, Mudryk remains a Chelsea player with a contract extending until 2031. While the rumors continue to swirl, his performances in cup competitions showcase his potential, leaving the door open for either a breakthrough at Chelsea or a future move to another top European club.
