Manchester United’s top summer transfer target is Frenkie de Jong of Barcelona.
Bernardo Silva from Manchester City has been made available to Real Madrid, giving Barcelona even more reason to pressure Frenkie de Jong into joining Manchester United. If the Catalan giants are to sign the City star this summer, the sale of the Netherlands international is essential. And it can lead to action if their competitors consider a hijack.
After spending the last year at the Etihad Stadium, Bernardo is keen to transfer to the Nou Camp and is a target for Barcelona this summer.
But as of late, L’Equipe via Sport has revealed that Real Madrid is also in the running to capture the Portugal international.
According to reports, Madrid has made an offer to sign the attacker, who has won four league championships during his illustrious tenure at the Etihad Stadium.
And despite being a frequent starter in Pep Guardiola’s lineup, a breakup may be in the works.
Bernardo has been a target for Barcelona as a De Jong replacement.
Additionally, Xavi’s team has been further motivated to get go of De Jong this summer by the rumor that their competitors have been offered the former Monaco star.
The Netherlands international, who has been with Barcelona since his transfer from Ajax in 2019, has so far dug in and refused to go.
In spite of this, the Catalan giants could try to exert extra pressure on the midfielder as they wait for Bernardo to show up.
Manchester United and Barcelona have already reached an agreement about De Jong’s transfer cost, with the Red Devils willing to spend an initial £63 million to sign the midfielder.
De Jong seems unsure, though.
Although he has previously played for Erik ten Hag, he does not want to sign with a team that cannot guarantee him Champions League football.
