Arsenal may be the frontrunner this summer to sign a young striker who is also on Chelsea’s radar. The center-forward position has been a significant talking point at both Emirates Stadium and Stamford Bridge this season.
Striker Situation at Arsenal and Chelsea
Kai Havertz has stepped up to lead the line for Arsenal, playing a crucial role for a Gunners side still competing for the league title heading into Sunday’s final day. The 24-year-old has tallied 13 goals and seven assists in his first year with Arsenal after his move from Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s 22-year-old Nicolas Jackson has taken on the role of the main No. 9 in his debut year in English football. Jackson has improved as the season progressed, scoring 17 goals in 43 games across all competitions.
Arsenal Eyeing Benjamin Sesko
The Telegraph reports that Arsenal is considering a move for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko this summer. The 20-year-old center-forward is also on Chelsea’s list of targets, with Manchester United and AC Milan expressing interest as well.
The report states that Arsenal has a “strong interest” in bringing Sesko to the Emirates and are perceived to be in pole position if they formalize their interest. Additionally, Sky Sports Germany journalist Philipp Hinze recently reported via X that Sesko has a release clause worth around €65m (£56m) that becomes active this summer.
Should Chelsea Pursue Sesko?

Sesko is undoubtedly one of the most exciting young strikers in Europe right now, with 17 goals in 41 appearances for Leipzig this season, including goals in the Champions League. Described as “very fast” by his agent Elvis Basanovic in 2021, Sesko could be a bargain if he realizes his potential.
However, The Chelsea Chronicle suggests that Sesko might not be the right fit for Chelsea at this time. Jackson has shown enough promise to warrant another season at Stamford Bridge. Moreover, it might make more sense for Chelsea to target a proven, older forward to increase competition and bring more experience to the team. Chelsea’s struggles this season have highlighted the challenges of fielding a team full of inexperienced players in the Premier League.
As Arsenal and Chelsea both look to bolster their attacking options, the race for Benjamin Sesko could be one of the summer’s most intriguing transfer battles.
