Romelu Lukaku lasted only one season in England before returning to Italy after failing to establish himself at Chelsea despite a £100 million+ return.
He has only done so on a temporary basis because Inter only agreed to a loan deal with the Blues, but there is already talk of it being extended for next season.
His departure from Chelsea allowed him to rediscover a team he enjoyed playing for, and it showed early on, as he scored and assisted in his first three games back with the Serie A club.
He has since been sidelined with an injury and will miss a couple of Belgium games during the international break to focus on his recovery.
This setback has caused some to question whether bringing the player back from Chelsea was the right decision, but journalist Fabrizio Biasin decided to set the record straight in an interview with Calciomercato.it.
“Anyone could have done it,” he said. You sold him for €100 million and then bought him back for two lire. Only a lunatic would have done it.”
Lukaku only found the back of the net 15 times in 44 appearances during his first year back at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel, who has since been replaced by Graham Potter.
In comparison, his last full season at Inter saw him score 30 goals and assist 10 in the same number of games.
