“Amazing” – Fabrizio Romano shares the secret ‘behind the scenes’ update about £63m Chelsea player
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City attempted to sign Marc Cucurella in January, but their offer was rejected by Chelsea. This interest from Manchester City persisted even after Cucurella joined Chelsea in August 2022, with a further attempt to acquire him reported in January 2023.
Romano revealed on YouTube that Manchester City had made a secret proposal for Cucurella during the January transfer window. The proposal was said to be a loan deal with an option to buy, but it was ultimately turned down by Chelsea.
However, since then, the situation surrounding Cucurella has changed at Chelsea. The Spain international is no longer part of Chelsea’s plans, and there were reports of him coming close to joining Manchester United on loan during the summer transfer window. It is believed that Cucurella himself expected to be sold by Chelsea in the summer.
Despite Chelsea’s decision to reject Manchester City’s offer earlier in the year, the circumstances surrounding Cucurella have evolved, and he is no longer in Chelsea’s immediate plans for the left-back position. Chelsea is now looking to find a permanent buyer for Cucurella, with Ben Chilwell and Ian Maatsen ahead of him in the pecking order. The rejection of the loan offer with an option to buy may have been influenced by Chelsea’s change in perspective regarding Cucurella’s role at the club.
