After suffering a hamstring injury in August’s 2-2 tie with Tottenham Hotspur, Kante, 31, hasn’t played for Graham Potter’s team since. Prior to needing surgery on the area, the France international returned to training before being out for a further four months.
The midfielder is currently in the last six months of his deal and is free to start pre-contract negotiations with foreign clubs for a transfer after June. Although it has been reported that Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are both interested in the France international, Kante may now end up playing for the Saudi Arabian team.
Days after signing Cristiano Ronaldo, Al-Nassr is reportedly eyeing Kante as their next big acquisition, according to Sport (via Sport Witness). After Portugal’s heartbreaking World Cup loss, the former Manchester United player announced on the final day of 2022 that he was moving to Asia.
According to the source, Al-Nassr is thinking of giving the midfielder, who is reportedly “thinking about” the move, “an expensive deal.” Due to Kante’s preference for playing at the highest level, Barcelona, who have been keeping an eye on the former Leicester City player for some time, are said to be “relatively tranquil.”
In the past, it was said that Chelsea had made “good progress” in securing Kante to a new contract in London as a result of fruitful negotiations. The length of the new terms, however, has yet to be determined and allows room for a withdrawal.
