According to a recent rumor from Fabrizio Romano, a prominent transfer specialist and CaughtOffside blogger, the Blues are in discussions to recruit the highly-rated American.
Slonina, 18, is said to be a target for both Chelsea and Real Madrid, the La Liga champions.
Following the rejection of Los Blancos’ initial proposal, Thomas Tuchel’s Blues, who are in discussions to lure the promising teenager to the Premier League, might now be regarded frontrunners.
Slonina has spent his whole career with Chicago Fire, and after being promoted to the senior first squad in 2019, he has appeared in 24 games across all competitions, maintaining nine clean sheets.
Whether Chelsea or its European opponents win the battle for Slonina, one thing is certain: the young goalkeeper’s upcoming transfer will establish an MLS record.
