Chelsea has gained ground in the competition to capture Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona this summer.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Manchester United and Chelsea are now competing to recruit highly regarded Barcelona midfielder, Frenkie de Jong.
All summer long, Manchester United has been interested in the midfielder, but obstacles have prevented them from closing the deal.
The midfielder and the new Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag had a fruitful time working together at Ajax, and the Dutchman hopes to team up with the player once more in Manchester.
However, Chelsea has moved up in line for de Jong over the past several days and is ready to bring him to London.
One of the factors working in the Blues’ favor is the fact that Barcelona is attempting to sign both left-back Marcos Alonso and center-back Cesar Azpilicueta, which will have an impact on the de Jong deal.
In order to complete the Frenkie de Jong transfer, Chelsea has said that they are open to considering player trades.
The Dutch midfielder had been the subject of a £67 million deal between Barcelona and Manchester United earlier in the summer, but nothing occurred since the player couldn’t agree on personal conditions.
According to the Spanish publication Sport, Manchester United’s failure to qualify for Champions League football, which gives Chelsea the edge, is the reason the midfielder is not interested in coming there.
Additionally, since Thomas Tuchel became manager, Chelsea has become stronger while Manchester United has shrunk to a mere shell of what they once were.
