According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid is close to re-signing Brazilian right-back Vinicius Tobias on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk. Real Madrid had previously had Tobias on loan for over a year but decided against signing him permanently at the end of the 2022/23 season.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Tobias initially joined Real Madrid in April of the previous year on a 14-month loan deal, which expired at the end of the 2022/23 campaign. During his time in Spain, the 19-year-old mostly played for Real Madrid’s Castilla team under Raul Gonzalez. He made 39 appearances for Castilla, providing four assists, and also featured five times for Real Madrid’s Under-19 team in the UEFA Youth League, contributing one assist.
Although Tobias had a promising start to the 2022/23 season with Castilla, his performances reportedly declined towards the end. As a result, it was believed that Real Madrid would allow him to return to Shakhtar Donetsk. However, due to the strong relationship between the two clubs, a new loan deal is now set to be finalized in the next 24 hours.
The loan deal is expected to last for one year until 2024, with Real Madrid paying a fee of €500,000. Additionally, Real Madrid will have a non-mandatory purchase option for Tobias worth €15 million. If the deal is completed, Tobias will become Real Madrid’s fourth signing of the summer, following Fran Garcia, Jude Bellingham, and Joselu. It remains to be seen whether Tobias will have the opportunity to feature for the first team this time around.
