Erling Haaland delivered a remarkable performance, scoring twice as Manchester City triumphed 3-0 against Young Boys, securing their place in the UEFA Champions League last-16. Haaland’s celebrations after his first goal drew comparisons to the iconic style of Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.
The Norwegian striker’s unique celebration was a promise he made during the 67th Ballon d’Or ceremony when he was awarded the Gerd Muller Trophy. In response to a playful query from Drogba about his future celebrations, Haaland had simply stated, “wait and see.”
Haaland opened the scoring for City from the penalty spot, following a foul on Matheus Nunes inside the box. The first half saw Phil Foden showcase his exceptional skills and composure, extending City’s lead with a well-executed goal just before the break.

The momentum carried into the second half, with Haaland delivering a stunning second goal. Shortly thereafter, Young Boys’ Sandro Lauper received his marching orders, being shown a second yellow card, further shifting the balance of the game in City’s favor.
Manager Pep Guardiola made calculated tactical adjustments, resting Rodri and introducing Nunes and Rico Lewis in midfield, all while keeping an eye on the forthcoming Premier League showdown against Chelsea.
