“Don’t compare him” – Darren Bent not impressed with Chelsea man, says you can’t compare him
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Former Premier League striker Darren Bent has expressed skepticism about Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino, stating that he has never been fully convinced of the Argentine’s capabilities. Bent compared Pochettino to esteemed managers like Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola, asserting that he does not believe Pochettino belongs in the same bracket as them.
Pochettino’s tenure at Stamford Bridge has seen a rocky start, with Chelsea winning just one of their first five Premier League games, securing a 3-0 victory against newly-promoted Luton Town. The team currently sits in 14th place in the Premier League table with five points.
However, Bent acknowledged that Pochettino is a competent manager, having previously demonstrated his coaching prowess during his time as the boss of Tottenham Hotspur. Pochettino notably elevated Spurs to a Champions League-level team and secured a second-place finish in the Premier League during the 2016/17 season.
Bent pointed out that Chelsea’s struggles are not entirely Pochettino’s fault, emphasizing the team’s lack of clinical finishing and the burden of multiple injuries. He argued that Pochettino should not shoulder excessive blame for Chelsea’s position in the league standings, considering the challenges the team is facing.
Nonetheless, Bent acknowledged the paramount importance of winning in football and the pressure on Pochettino to improve the team’s performance swiftly.
