‘He’s brilliant’: £37,000-a-week Chelsea player Conte called ‘really good’ now having medical ahead of exit
Ethan Ampadu is on the verge of a permanent exit from Chelsea as he is set to undergo a medical at Leeds United. The Wales international has been with Chelsea since 2017 and has had four loan spells at RB Leipzig, Sheffield United, Venezia, and Spezia.

Due to the impending move, Ampadu has not joined Chelsea’s pre-season tour in the United States. The defender is expected to finalize his switch to Leeds soon.
Some observers believe that Chelsea should have negotiated a buyback clause along with the sell-on clause. Ampadu has the potential to become a standout player in the Championship and a solid Premier League performer if Leeds achieves promotion. Including a buyback clause would have allowed Chelsea to reacquire him if his value increases significantly in the future.
Despite this, Ampadu’s talent is highly regarded, and it is hoped that he can fulfill his potential. Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte once praised him as a “really good” player and a representation of the club’s future.
