Some observers believe that Chelsea should have negotiated a buyback clause along with the sell-on clause. Ampadu has the potential to become a standout player in the Championship and a solid Premier League performer if Leeds achieves promotion. Including a buyback clause would have allowed Chelsea to reacquire him if his value increases significantly in the future.
Despite this, Ampadu’s talent is highly regarded, and it is hoped that he can fulfill his potential. Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte once praised him as a “really good” player and a representation of the club’s future.
