‘I agree’ Chelsea player is ready to lose £1m in wages to leave Chelsea
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Romelu Lukaku is reportedly willing to sacrifice £1 million in wages to push through a move from Chelsea to Inter Milan this summer. The Belgian striker, who spent the previous season on loan at Inter Milan, is eager to make the move permanent.
According to the Telegraph, Lukaku has expressed his desire to leave Chelsea and is prepared to take a £20,000 per week pay cut from his current salary of £140,000 per week after tax. He has communicated this to Inter Milan as a sign of his commitment to joining them.
Inter Milan is said to be preparing a £35 million bid for Lukaku, which includes bonus payments. The Telegraph suggests that Chelsea should accept this bid and move on from the striker.
Given Lukaku’s reported intentions to force a move away from Chelsea and the concerns about his commitment if he were to return, accepting a £35 million offer would be in the best interest of all parties involved. It would represent a significant loss for Chelsea, who paid £97.5 million to sign Lukaku from Inter Milan in August 2021. However, with Lukaku’s underwhelming goal tally in Serie A last season, it may be time for Chelsea to cut their losses and reinvest the funds in a new striker.
