Mauricio Pochettino has hinted that Chelsea will soon be making new quality signings to strengthen their squad. The Chelsea head coach, who is overseeing his first week at the club, expressed his excitement about working with Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez. He also acknowledged that the current pre-season squad is not the finished article and expects new signings of top quality to be added.
Pochettino stated, “It is true this isn’t the whole squad, but the players are very open. The attitude is amazing. Of course, we have the quality, we are going to add more quality and I am excited to be here.” The focus of Chelsea’s summer window so far has been on outgoings, with several high-profile players leaving the club. While they have made some new additions, including attackers Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson, there is still a need to address the midfield weakness caused by the departures. Pochettino expressed the desire for experienced and top-quality recruits in the central midfield position.
